Norfolk, VA?The Visual Arts School at the Hermitage Foundation Museum, located next to the historic house museum on North Shore Road in Norfolk is offering adult art classes to the community. The Visual Arts School will begin its Spring Session on February 15, 2005 and will continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. for 8 weeks until April 7, 2005. Offerings for the Spring Session include Beginners and Advanced Photography, Multi-Media Painting, Clay Building and Throwing, and Individual Level Watercolor. Classes are taught by artists and educators active in the Tidewater area arts scene. The deadline for class registration is February 12, 2005, and classes fill on a first-come basis.
The Hermitage Foundation Museum also announces its first Membership Drive. The Visual Arts School, located on the beautiful grounds of the Hermitage, houses classrooms, a complete ceramics studio, and state-of-the-art photography facilities.
Formerly home to the Sloane family, the Hermitage is surrounded by twelve acres of woodlands and gardens on the shore of the Lafayette River. The Hermitage offers 45-minute guided tours, on the hour, of fifteen galleries filled with the Sloane family world-wide art collection, furniture, and history.
